Survey Shows Majority of Public Trust Election Decision by KPU, Disagree with Re-election

Indonesian Political Indicator recently conducted a survey on the presidential election dispute at the Constitutional Court (MK). The results revealed that 63.4 percent of the public do not agree with the annulment of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s nomination for the 2024 election. Furthermore, 68.6 percent oppose the idea of holding a re-election without the pair of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

During a press briefing on Sunday (April 21, 2024), Burhanudin Muhtadi, the Director of Indonesian Political Indicator, mentioned that nearly 69 percent strongly disagree with the decision.

The survey also found that 47.8 percent of the public are aware of the General Election Commission’s (KPU) ruling on the 2024 election, with 73.8 percent trusting in that decision.

Regarding the ongoing dispute over the 2024 presidential election results at the MK, 52.6 percent of respondents are informed, and 71.8 percent believe that the MK will deliver a fair verdict on the matter,” Burhanuddin explained.

Conducted on April 4-5, 2024, the survey included 1,201 respondents who were contacted through random digit dialing (RDD). The survey targeted Indonesian citizens aged 17 and above or married individuals with a telephone or cellphone, representing approximately 83% of the national population.

With a margin of error estimated at ±2.9% and a 95% confidence level, assuming simple random sampling, the interviews were carried out by trained interviewers over the phone.
