Prabowo Subianto, Indonesian Defense Minister, attended the 72nd anniversary ceremony of the Kopassus at the Kopassus Headquarters Field in Cijantung, East Jakarta on Tuesday (30/4). He arrived at 08:00 WIB in a grey suit and red beret, quickly taking his seat in the prepared area. The theme of the event was ‘Serving with Honor, True Guardians of Sovereignty,’ and it started with a ceremony and various performances by Kopassus troops.
The event began with a report from the parade commander, followed by the singing of the national anthem “Indonesia Raya,” the “Mars Komando” song, and displays of tactical vehicles. A slideshow of photos of past Kopassus commanders was also presented, with the mention of Prabowo Subianto as the 15th commander receiving applause from the audience.
General Agus Subiyanto, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, highlighted the hard work, commitment, and integrity that have made Kopassus a respected special forces unit globally. He praised the contributions of former members of the Red Beret Corps, including Prabowo Subianto, who served as the 15th commander from 1995-1998.
Looking ahead, Kopassus aims to make advancements through adoption, innovation, and technology engineering, leveraging the global defense industry while strengthening the domestic defense industry for independence. General Agus Subiyanto expressed respect for veteran elders who have shaped Kopassus into what it is today.
In closing, the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces wished Kopassus a happy anniversary and emphasized the importance of returning with honor in battle. He encouraged the Special Forces Command to be daring, true, and successful.
