Prabowo Subianto, President-elect of Indonesia for the period 2024-2029, met with Qatar’s leader, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday (15/5).
“May Your Excellency’s honor be in good health and prosperity, continue to succeed, and may Qatar continue to progress and prosper,” said Prabowo.
During the meeting, Prabowo was accompanied by Vice President-elect, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The discussion focused on enhancing relations between the two countries in various fields, particularly defense.
The Emir of Qatar also expressed his hope to Prabowo and Gibran for further development of bilateral relations.
Next, Prabowo and Gibran held a meeting with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.
In that meeting, Prabowo and the Qatari PM also discussed the developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
“Thank you for the warm welcome. May the relationship and friendship between Indonesia and Qatar always remain strong, for the good of both countries,” said Prabowo.
Also welcoming Prabowo and Gibran at the Amiri Diwan Palace were Qatar’s Minister of Defense, H.E. Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, Head of the Amiri Diwan, H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.
