Prabowo Subianto, President-elect of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term, recently met with the leader of Qatar, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha, Qatar. Accompanied by Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the meeting focused on strengthening relations between the two countries, particularly in the field of defense.
During the meeting, Prabowo extended well wishes to Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, expressing hopes for the continued success and prosperity of Qatar. The Emir also expressed his desire for further development in the bilateral relationship with Indonesia.
Following the meeting with the Emir, Prabowo and Gibran also held discussions with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani. The conversation included topics on the current situation in Gaza and the Palestinian occupied territories.
Prabowo expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relations and friendship between Indonesia and Qatar for the mutual benefit of both nations. The meeting was also attended by Qatar’s Minister of Defense, H.E. Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, Chief of the Amiri Diwan H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs H.E. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.
