Jakarta — Political analyst and lecturer at Universitas Al-Azhar Indonesia, Ujang Komarudin, has observed a consistent level of trust and confidence from President Joko Widodo’s administration to the upcoming Prabowo Subianto administration.
This continuity is evident from a recent survey conducted by Kompas Research, which indicates the smooth transition of governance from Jokowi to Prabowo, supported by various factors.
Ujang highlights that the survey demonstrates a high level of public confidence, particularly due to the successful handling of national issues such as economy and health challenges during Jokowi’s term, which are expected to be carried forward by Prabowo.
“The significant trust of the Indonesian public in Prabowo-Gibran is noteworthy as they are anticipated to steer Indonesia towards a prosperous, fair, and globally acknowledged nation,” Ujang informed the press on Saturday (June 22).
He believes that this accomplishment sets a strong foundation for Prabowo-Gibran to govern and further enhance Indonesia, with the goal of achieving societal prosperity in the next five years after their inauguration on October 20.
“The public is very optimistic that Prabowo-Gibran will be able to bring about the desired changes and advancements in the next five years,” he elaborated.
In this regard, Ujang also points out that the Indonesian society is eager for Prabowo-Gibran to continue the legacy of the Jokowi-Ma’ruf administration.
Based on a survey conducted by Kompas Research covering the two terms of the Jokowi-Ma’ruf administration, public satisfaction remained consistently positive, with satisfaction levels reaching a peak towards the end of their tenure.
“At present, over three-quarters of respondents are satisfied with President Jokowi’s performance. Despite some ongoing issues, the trust in the government remains high,” stated Kompas Research in a survey article released on Saturday (June 22) on Kompas.id.
Kompas Research asserts that based on these results, the public expects similar evaluations and demands to continue with the new administration.
According to the findings of Kompas Research, 83.6% of the public have confidence that the Prabowo-Gibran administration will enhance the nation’s international stature.
Moreover, 83.6% believe that the new administration will bolster national defense, 67.6% are confident in increased value-added natural resource processing (downstream processing), 68.5% are positive about enhanced national economic growth, 62.4% anticipate the creation of new job opportunities, and 69% expect the achievement of food sovereignty.
Additionally, 57.3% have faith in the implementation of a free nutritious meal program, 72.4% in the completion of the new capital’s development, and 64.8% in the eradication of corruption in the Prabowo-Gibran government.
This survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews by Kompas Research from May 27 to June 2, 2024. A total of 1,200 respondents were randomly selected using a stratified systematic sampling method across 38 provinces in Indonesia.
Utilizing this methodology, with a 95 percent confidence level, the research has a margin of error of approximately 2.83 percent under simple random sampling conditions. The survey was fully sponsored by Kompas Daily (PT Kompas Media Nusantara).
