Prabowo Subianto, the Indonesian Defense Minister, was pleased to host a visit from the Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Egypt, Ahmed Al Tayeb at the Ministry of Defense. The meeting took place on Wednesday afternoon, where Ahmed Al Tayeb and his delegation were warmly welcomed by Prabowo. They were greeted with handshakes and a brief media interaction before proceeding together with a guard of honor and a marching band.
The meeting between the two dignitaries lasted for about an hour and was described as warm and cordial. M. Quraish Shihab, the former Minister of Religious Affairs of Indonesia, was also present during the meeting. Prabowo expressed his gratitude to Ahmed Al Tayeb for the visit, highlighting the close historical ties between Egypt and Indonesia.
During the meeting, Ahmed Al Tayeb congratulated Prabowo on his election as the President of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term. He offered his prayers for Prabowo’s successful leadership, wishing for progress, prosperity, and peace during his tenure.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prabowo, Quraish Shihab, and Ahmed Al Tayeb exchanged gifts and took photos together. Prabowo received a book and a Quran as gifts from the Grand Imam, while he presented a keris and a plaque from the Ministry of Defense in return.
