Prabowo Subianto attends the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics and shows support for the Indonesian team

Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia’s Defense Minister and President-elect, attended the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics on the Seine River in Paris. The event took place on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 7:30 PM local time, or Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 12:30 AM WIB.

The ceremony began with a parade of participating nations, including Indonesia. Despite the rain, Prabowo, wearing a transparent raincoat, stood up to wave and offer words of encouragement to the Indonesian contingent as they passed by.

The Indonesian team, consisting of fourteen athletes, including Chef de Mission Anindya Bakrie, flag bearer Maryam March Maharani, cyclist Bernard Benjamin van Aert, and swimmers Azzahra Permatahani and Joe Aditya, looked sporty and elegant in outfits designed by Didit Hediprasetyo, Prabowo’s son. The uniforms were inspired by Raden Saleh and featured red and white hues with Javanese blangkon.

The unique aspect of the Paris 2024 opening ceremony was that it took place along the Seine River, with athletes parading on 85 boats past iconic Paris landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral.

The Olympics will continue until August 11, 2024, with athletes competing in various sports.
