France – A special moment was captured when Indonesian Defense Minister and president-elect Prabowo Subianto attended a pencak silat exhibition in Paris, France, on Saturday (27/07).
During the event, he met Indonesian badminton legend Greysia Polii. Prabowo was seen smiling as he talked with Greysia, who was accompanied by her husband, Felix Djimin, and their daughter, Jessia Selah Djimin.
“What’s your name?” Prabowo asked while holding Jessia’s hand, who was being carried by Felix.
“Her name is Jessia,” Greysia and Felix introduced their daughter, who is not yet two years old.
The brief but heartwarming meeting ended with a photo session. “May we take a photo, Sir?” Greysia asked.
“Sure, sure,” Prabowo responded enthusiastically.
The pencak silat demonstration was one of the activities at the exhibition. This initiative aims to raise global awareness of this traditional Indonesian martial art.
As the Chairman of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (PB IPSI) for the 2021-2025 term, Prabowo is determined to make pencak silat an Olympic sport.
