Moscow – Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto called Russia a ‘good friend’ and expressed his wish to continue strengthening the relationship.
“It should be remembered that Russia has helped us (Indonesia) in various ways when we faced challenges. Russia supported us during those difficult times,” Prabowo said during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Russia, on Wednesday (31/7).
He also noted that Russia has assisted Indonesia in improving its defense and military capabilities. In his capacity as Defense Minister, Prabowo highlighted the strong collaboration between Indonesia and Russia.
“I am here to emphasize that this partnership will continue when I officially take office as the President of Indonesia on October 20,” he added.
Additionally, Prabowo mentioned that he has been actively communicating and holding discussions with Putin’s team, especially regarding the defense industry.
“I have also met with key officials in your industry, the defense sector, and have been in deep discussions over the past few months about a roadmap to enhance cooperation between us (Indonesia) and Russia,” Prabowo concluded.
