Special Presidential Envoy for Climate and Energy, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, expressed optimism that the government’s target of 8% economic growth in Indonesia can be achieved. Hashim shared his optimism during the DBS Asian Insights Conference at Hotel Mulia, Jakarta, on Wednesday (21/5/2025).
Hashim stated that there are several programs in place to drive Indonesia’s economic growth beyond 8%, ranging from manufacturing to downstreaming mining commodities. Indonesia’s abundant resources such as nickel, copper, bauxite, and coal allow for opportunities in downstreaming these assets for added value, as highlighted by Hashim.
Furthermore, Hashim highlighted Indonesia’s capability in downstreaming coal assets to produce LPG due to the country’s vast coal reserves. These initiatives are aimed at increasing value added through downstreaming and realizing Indonesia’s commodity downstreaming aspirations.
