Indonesia commemorates National Children’s Day as a significant event to prioritize the well-being and future of its young generation. President Prabowo Subianto aims to implement tangible actions to secure the welfare of children across the nation. Three key flagship programs have been launched by the government to directly impact children’s lives: Nutritious Free Meals (Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG), Free Health Checkups (Cek Kesehatan Gratis/CKG), and School Revitalization.
Dedek Prayudi, a Senior Expert at the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), highlighted the importance of MBG in providing essential nutrition to children, addressing the prevalence of school-aged children attending school on an empty stomach. A concerning number of children suffer from anemia due to inadequate nutrition, affecting their cognitive development negatively. The Free Health Checkups aim to fulfill citizens’ health rights, including children, by providing preventive care services free of charge.
The School Revitalization Program focuses on renovating schools nationwide to address the structural damages that impact the learning environment. President Prabowo has allocated significant funding to revitalize 11,440 schools, particularly targeting those in remote or underdeveloped areas with substandard facilities. The urgent need to improve school infrastructure is crucial to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.
The initiatives led by the government underscore the commitment to prioritize the welfare and future of Indonesian children, aligning with constitutional mandates to safeguard the rights to health and education for all citizens. The efforts to enhance children’s well-being through proper nutrition, healthcare services, and improved learning facilities demonstrate a holistic approach to securing a brighter future for the younger generation.
