Paskibraka Members from Papua Ready to Make Country Proud

Two high school students from Papua expressed their pride and excitement in participating in Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day celebrations as members of the elite national flag-raising troop, Pasukan Pengibar Bendera Pusaka (Paskibraka), at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta with President Prabowo Subianto. Representing Papua Pegunungan Province, Franciscus Sakfiris Pahabolisage from SMA Negeri 1 Wamena, and Stincek Laramiapa from SMA Negeri 1 Nabire representing Papua Tengah Province shared their gratitude and joy for this opportunity. Franciscus mentioned the challenging selection process from the district to the national level, emphasizing the physical training as a significant adjustment for him. Stincek expressed her commitment to delivering the best performance while also acknowledging her initial doubts about reaching the national level. Both students highlighted the importance of teamwork, camaraderie, and unity among the Paskibraka team members during their training. Despite feeling nervous about performing on August 17, their excitement and joy for this memorable moment overshadowed any anxiety they had, especially in meeting the President in person.
