Pangandaran Prioritizes Accelerating the Economy through Tourism Sector
The Chairman of the Regional Representatives Council (DPRD) of Pangandaran Regency, Asep Noordin H.M.M., emphasized the importance of aligning the General Budget Policy and the Priority Ceiling Budget Plan (KUA-PPAS) with the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD). This statement was made after leading a plenary meeting to determine the Revised 2026 KUA-PPAS and the 2027 Budget Ceiling Plan.
Asep stressed that the main focus of Pangandaran Regency’s development in 2027 is to accelerate the economy based on the tourism sector. To achieve this, he formulated strategic steps that must be immediately implemented by the Regional Government.
Strengthening Accessibility and Event Attractions
The first highlighted step is the strengthening of accessibility to destinations and the reactivation of national to international scale event attractions. Asep urged the local government to prepare a consistent official event calendar.
Some agendas with great potential include the return of the International Kite Festival, cultural attractions such as Hajat Laut and Syukuran Nelayan, and the optimization of beachside horse racing arenas in Pangandaran, which are unique in Indonesia.
In addition, the potential for water sports such as surfing, bodyboarding, and stand-up paddling in Batukaras and Green Canyon is also expected to be professionally packaged, alongside support for routine aeronautical events such as air shows.
Development of Tourism Villages and Digitalization
The second strategic step is to make tourist villages the driving force of the people’s economy. He stated that the natural and cultural potential in Pangandaran’s villages is significant but requires continuous capacity building and mentoring from the local government.
Thirdly, Asep emphasized the importance of digitalization and institutional strengthening, such as optimizing the Regional Tourism Promotion Agency (BPPD). The use of digital patterns is believed to streamline regional revenue management and expand digital marketing reach for tourist destinations and local MSME products.
Pentahelix Approach to Reduce Poverty
In order to create an impressive and inclusive tourism sector in Pangandaran, Asep invited all parties to implement a pentahelix collaboration scheme.
This approach involves synergy between the government, academia, business players/tour operators, media, and local communities.
“The ultimate goal of this strategy is the increase in Regional Original Revenue (PAD), the surge in domestic and foreign tourist visits, and the growth of the people’s economy around destinations. With the creation of new jobs, we hope that the unemployment and poverty rates in Pangandaran Regency can continue to be reduced,” he concluded.
