Residents of the Fishermen’s Village in Muara Angke, North Jakarta, are grateful for the floating and stilt homes provided by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto on Saturday, April 13. Iwan Susilo, a beneficiary, expressed his happiness, saying that the house is comfortable and well-built, something he could never afford on his own. Delina also conveyed her joy, stating that the community is happy with the homes given by Prabowo.
In addition to the houses, the residents also received Eid gift packages that included educational supplies for children. The children thanked Mr. Prabowo as they flaunted their new school bags. Annisa explained the contents of the packages, which included various school essentials like pencil cases, books, and socks.
The Ministry of Defense provided a total of 16 floating homes and 12 stilt homes, each covering 9 square meters, to 18 families or 80 individuals in an effort to improve the welfare of the local community, which often faces flood disasters and erosion. The project also included developing green public spaces and amenities, such as a desalination unit to convert seawater into fresh water for the villagers.
