Jakarta – Prabowo Subianto, the President-elect of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term, has expressed his gratitude and pride towards the Indonesian medical team responsible for the successful surgery on his leg. He shared his feelings in a post on his personal Instagram account @prabowo on Sunday (June 30).
“I want to express my thanks to Allah SWT and show my appreciation to the medical team led by Brigadier General (Ret.) Dr. Robert Hutauruk, Colonel Dr. Sunaryo, Dr. Siska Widayati, assisted by Dr. Thomas, and all the nurses and medical personnel at the RSPPN Sudirman for the success of the major surgery performed on me,” said Prabowo.
The hospital where the surgery was conducted was officially opened in February by President Joko Widodo and Prabowo. It is under the supervision of the Ministry of Defense, renovated and equipped by Prabowo along with 25 other military hospitals.
Prabowo disclosed that the injury he suffered was a result of two parachuting accidents during his active duty in the Indonesian National Armed Forces.
“As many know, I had two parachuting accidents while serving in the military in the 1980s, which affected my left leg, an injury that I have been dealing with,” he explained.
He also recognized the risks and life-threatening nature of the medical procedure he underwent but was convinced of its necessity.
“All of this is for the country and the nation. I have faith in the expertise and professionalism of the medical team and all the medical personnel involved,” he stated.
Prabowo mentioned that the successful surgery took place a week ago and he is now prepared to resume his duties.
“With the grace of God, now that my health has been restored, I am more ready than ever to serve and dedicate myself to the country and the people of Indonesia. I want to thank everyone for their prayers and support,” he concluded.
