Colonel Wismoyo’s teachings have had a lasting impact on me personally. His emphasis on always thinking good, doing good, and speaking well resonated deeply with me. The value of not wishing ill upon others is a lesson that I have carried with me throughout my military career. His belief that brave men must be happy and that a leader should comfort his men through various activities to boost morale is something that I strive to emulate.
I first met Colonel Wismoyo when I joined KOPASSANDHA, where he served as the Deputy Assistant for Security. Over time, I came to know him better and appreciate his leadership style. His insistence on creating a positive and spirited atmosphere, as well as his focus on discipline, loyalty, and honour, left a lasting impression on me. He taught us to always be forgiving and to give second chances to those who make mistakes.
One particular incident that stands out to me is when we had a training exercise in Lampung involving parachute jumps. Despite having a knee injury, Colonel Wismoyo insisted on participating. This showed his dedication and commitment to leading by example. He also encouraged me to improve my marksmanship skills, recognizing the importance of being proficient in shooting as a member of the Infantry Corps.
Colonel Wismoyo’s motto of ‘discipline is my breath, loyalty is my soul, honour is everything’ continues to guide me in my leadership journey. His emphasis on not speaking ill of others and his willingness to participate in various activities with his men further showcased his strong leadership qualities. I am grateful for the valuable lessons and inspiration that I have received from him.
