Prabowo Call for Honest Leadership in Muslim Nations: A Solution to Poverty and Inequality

During the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) in Jakarta, President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto stressed the significance of clean governance and honest leadership in uplifting Muslim-majority nations from poverty and global challenges. Prabowo highlighted the importance of Islamic nations playing a more active role in global affairs to foster a just and prosperous world. He identified poverty, corruption, limited access to education, and mismanagement of resources as crucial internal issues that need addressing for progress. The theme of this year’s PUIC, “Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience,” was praised by Prabowo as a relevant and essential focus. He emphasized the critical role of strong and accountable governance in ensuring competitiveness and resilience for any nation. Prabowo also acknowledged the historical achievements of Islamic civilization, citing exemplary leaders such as Umar ibn al-Khattab and Mehmed the Conqueror, who prioritized the well-being of their people. Furthermore, he reiterated Indonesia’s unwavering support for Palestine and urged Muslim nations to take tangible steps to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, emphasizing the importance of moving beyond dialogue to impactful initiatives. Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia will always stand with Palestine in their pursuit of justice and freedom.
