Indonesia and the European Union have successfully achieved a significant milestone in finalizing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This achievement was announced after a productive high-level meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels. President von der Leyen highlighted the potential economic benefits that CEPA could bring to various sectors, emphasizing the importance of responsible supply chains for critical raw materials necessary for energy and digital transitions.
President Prabowo expressed his satisfaction with the agreement, underscoring the alignment of economic interests between Indonesia and the EU. Recognizing the strategic importance of the partnership, especially in the face of global uncertainties, he emphasized the potential for Indonesia’s natural resources to complement Europe’s strengths in science, technology, and finance.
