BGN Suspends Nutrition Service in East Nusa Tenggara

The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has suspended the operations of its Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) due to substandard food found in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, stated that the affected SPPG units will remain closed until the investigation is completed and the MBG food samples are thoroughly tested in the laboratory. BGN is collaborating with independent institutions and local health and education departments to determine the cause of the incident and monitor the health of affected students. The agency apologized to students, parents, schools, and all impacted parties, and emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for negligence in procuring and distributing MBG meals. Redy assured that the health and safety of MBG recipients are their top priority, and corrective measures are being implemented, including stricter partner screening, enhanced hygiene standards, improved food quality monitoring, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The National Nutrition Agency is committed to upholding food safety standards and ensuring the MBG Program delivers its benefits without compromising health, with the support and vigilance of all stakeholders.
