The government launched the Free Health Check in Schools (CKG Sekolah) program to provide early health screenings in schools on August 4, 2025, aiming to detect potential health issues among students and facilitate timely intervention. This nationwide initiative covers all levels of education, from elementary to senior high schools. At SMA 6 South Tangerang, 1,225 students benefited from free health assessments conducted by healthcare workers from the Pamulang Community Health Center.
The program not only focuses on identifying health problems early but also emphasizes the importance of promoting healthy habits through education. Students are taught proper dental and ear care, along with the significance of maintaining a balanced diet and physical fitness. This proactive approach aims to shift the mindset towards preventive healthcare, encouraging individuals to visit health centers even when they are healthy to understand their health risks and adopt healthier lifestyles.
The Head of the Health Development Policy Agency at the Ministry of Health highlighted the significance of instilling healthy behaviors in students from a young age, as it is easier to cultivate these habits early on rather than trying to change adult behavior. By starting health education in schools, the goal is to establish a culture of health that will extend into adulthood, creating a healthier national community.
Student participants like Aryo Gustian Wisesa expressed excitement about taking part in the health screening, emphasizing the positive experience despite initial nerves. The CKG in schools program aims to not only detect health issues but also to educate and empower students to prioritize their well-being.
