President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, warmly received Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday (11/8). The state ceremony was attended by around 3,000 students from elementary to high school level from various schools in the capital city.
President Boluarte’s motorcade, accompanied by 17 motorcycle troops and 60 mounted guards, made its way from the National Monument (Monas) to the palace gates. Upon arrival, President Prabowo personally greeted President Boluarte and they both stood on the ceremonial podium while the national anthems of Peru and Indonesia were played.
After the anthems, they inspected the honor guard and paid tribute to their respective national flags. President Prabowo and President Boluarte then introduced their official delegations. President Prabowo’s delegation included key ministers like the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of State Secretariat, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Trade, and the Cabinet Secretary.
The two leaders later engaged in a bilateral meeting to enhance the ties between Indonesia and Peru. Peru and Indonesia are both members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), a forum for economic and multilateral cooperation in the region. This meeting follows President Prabowo’s visit to Peru last year, and President Boluarte’s visit can be seen as a reciprocal gesture in the ongoing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
