Prabowo Stops SOE Commissioner Bonuses: What does it mean for people?

President Prabowo Subianto delivered a keynote speech at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 in Tangerang, where he reiterated his commitment to reforming Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs). He emphasized the need to eliminate the practice of giving bonuses, also known as tantiem, to SOE commissioners. Prabowo highlighted the mismanagement and dispersion of SOE assets over the years. Through the consolidation of these assets under Danantara, Indonesia has solidified its global financial presence, with a sovereign fund ranking fifth worldwide. Despite this achievement, Prabowo criticized the awarding of bonuses to SOE commissioners, especially during times of company losses, deeming it unjust. He emphasized the importance of removing these bonuses as part of a wider reform agenda to instill integrity and professionalism in state-owned companies. Prabowo made it clear that those who oppose these reforms will not be tolerated, as there are numerous young individuals prepared to take on the responsibility in this regard.
