Gedlich Racing is introducing a new GT Summer Series (GTSS) at Hockenheimring from April 17-19 to address the dilemma in modern Pro-Am GT racing. The championship aims to keep both professional teams and amateur drivers engaged and competitive. Using a Balance of Performance (BoP) concept, GTSS adjusts performance based on driver categorization, ensuring fair competition across all classes. With stricter parameters for line-ups featuring professional drivers and performance boosts for pure Bronze line-ups, the series seeks to maintain an exciting 20+ car grid.
With Land-Motorsport, a renowned GT3 team, participating in the inaugural season with an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, the GTSS is attracting attention within the paddock. Other teams like CCS Racing, Gruhn Motorsport, and Equipe Vitesse are also joining in with various high-performance vehicles. Alongside these established teams, GTSS showcases inspiring narratives like Franz Binder’s return to motorsport after years of hiatus, driving a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo.
The championship offers a welcoming environment across various classes, including Cup, GT4, TCX, and GTX. To support newcomers and amateurs, five-time Le Mans winner Frank Biela will serve as the championship’s dedicated driver’s mentor. The track action includes two 30-minute sprint races and a 50-minute endurance race, providing an exciting experience for fans. The 2026 GT Summer Series will take place at iconic racing circuits in Germany and Belgium, promising an exhilarating season for competitors and spectators alike.
