Formula 1 and the FIA have responded swiftly to criticism of the 2026 regulations, implementing changes before the Miami Grand Prix. Will Buxton praised this rapid response during an episode of the Up To Speed podcast, noting the rare occurrence of adjustments being made so promptly in today’s competitive racing landscape. He commended Formula 1, the FIA, teams, and drivers for actively listening to feedback from fans and stakeholders, highlighting the importance of addressing concerns promptly. The revised regulations now feature modifications such as energy management parameter adjustments, reducing the maximum recharge limit to 7MJ, increasing peak super clip power to 350kW, and capping race boost at +150kW to enhance safety by preventing dangerous closing speeds between cars. Additionally, a low-power start detection system has been introduced to trigger the MGU-K automatically, reducing the risk of grid collisions. Furthermore, intermediate tyre blanket temperatures have been elevated to improve wet-weather grip. This collaborative effort among all involved parties demonstrates a commitment to enhancing the racing spectacle based on constructive feedback and proactive decision-making.
